On occasion, social networking platforms can be a perilous environment. One young boy of 11 years, Tommie-Lee Billington, met his demise following the completion of a trending TikTok task.
Hailing from Lancaster, England, the lad was having a sleepover at a friend’s residence on the weekend when they stumbled upon the challenge on TikTok and opted to partake in it themselves. Regrettably, the TikTok trend took a tragic turn and Tommie passed away.
This particular test entails inhaling hazardous gases or solvents that induce euphoria. Instances include dry shampoo, aerosol deodorant, and adhesive substances.
Immediately after Tommie breathed in the fumes, he suffered a cardiac arrest and perished instantly.
“The medical facility exhausted all efforts to revive him, but to no avail. He was no more,” expressed his grandmother, Tina Burns.
“He possessed a kind-hearted nature just like his father. Our kin is profoundly heartbroken.”
“My son paid the ultimate price for trying out something that other youths are engaging in too. Do take the time to converse with your offspring regarding the repercussions of such actions. It is incomprehensible to me why anyone would even experiment with this! It is extremely hazardous!” lamented the grief-stricken mother on Facebook.
“Never before have I experienced such anguish. My whirlwind. I cherish you ceaselessly my companion. My precious son. You will eternally reside in my heart. I vow to ensure, to the best of my capabilities, that your reputation and your lovely countenance are the driving force behind the preservation of other youngsters’ lives and preventing other families from enduring this profound sorrow,” she concluded her post that touched countless hearts.
This isn’t the initial tragic occurrence stemming from this specific challenge. Another young girl, Esra Haynes, aged 13, perished under similar sorrowful circumstances.
