President Donald Trump abruptly ended a White House press conference after a medical emergency occurred during the swearing-in ceremony of TV personality and physician Dr. Mehmet Oz, who was being appointed as the new administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
According to The Irish Star, the disruption occurred when a young girl collapsed during the event. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was heard instructing the press to leave the room immediately, stating, “Press out!”

Upon noticing the situation, President Trump stepped away from the podium and expressed concern, saying, “I hope she’s OK.” Dr. Oz quickly moved off-camera to offer assistance as the young girl was escorted from the room.
The White House later issued a statement clarifying the incident, saying, “A minor family member fainted during Dr. Oz’s swearing-in ceremony in the Oval Office. We are happy to say she is OK.”
A video clip shared online captured the tense moment, showing security and staff responding swiftly to the situation as the press was ushered out.
Before the emergency, President Trump introduced Dr. Oz by highlighting his extensive background in medicine and public service. “He comes to this position as one of the nation’s most talented and beloved medical professionals,” Trump said.

Dr. Oz graduated from Harvard University and went on to earn both a Doctor of Medicine and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Medicine and Wharton School. He served as a heart surgeon and professor at Columbia University and was the Director of the Cardiovascular Institute at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Best known for The Dr. Oz Show, which aired from 2009 to 2022, Oz’s medical advice has drawn both praise and criticism. One notable controversy involved his promotion of green coffee extract as a “magic weight loss cure,” which was later condemned by the Federal Trade Commission.
Dr. Oz’s appointment to CMS was confirmed earlier in the month with a Senate vote of 53–45.
