Gordon Ramsay Shares Heartfelt Update on Fatherhood After Tragic Loss: “No Book Guides You Through That”

Gordon Ramsay is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable names in the culinary world.

The celebrated TV chef, who has earned 12 Michelin stars over his illustrious career and currently holds seven, has opened up for the first time about the loss of his unborn son, Rocky.

In a candid interview with People, Gordon, 56, shared the profound grief he and his wife Tana experienced and how they navigated through that challenging time.

“Losing Rocky was really tough, and then just being there and watching the trauma unfold, it’s just this life-changing moment…” Gordon reflected.

Speaking of Tana, he said, “Just watching the way that she dealt with it — and opened up with other friends and women in close proximity that could give advice — she was incredible straight after that.”

He added, “There are a lot of things that Tana’s done, and we wouldn’t be here today without that strength.”

Gordon and Tana, who married in 1996, have five children: Megan (born in 1999), twins Jack and Holly, daughter Matilda, and their youngest, Oscar (born in 2019).

In 2016, the couple announced that Tana had a miscarriage at five months pregnant but didn’t provide further details at the time.

In 2020, Tana spoke publicly about her loss following Chrissy Teigen’s revelation of her own miscarriage. Tana expressed her support for Teigen and praised her honesty.

“I find it very emotional and I thought she was amazing. When I read about her situation, I didn’t know the ins and outs, but certainly, a lot of it sounded incredibly similar to mine,” Tana said.

“It brings it all back and I think she was amazing for talking about it and posting the photos that she did,” she added.

Tana shared her frustration with people who avoided the topic, saying, “I have to be honest when it happened to me, I found it really hard when people would talk to me and not mention it because it was like it never happened.”

“All I wanted to do was talk about it with friends, with family, with anyone who asked me about it because it was incredibly hard,” she continued.

Gordon was a pillar of support during this difficult time. “Gordon was amazing, and he’s always been one to talk about everything and he was very good at sort of talking it out of me and never making me feel that, ‘Oh, you know, maybe we shouldn’t talk about it’.”

In his recent interview with People, Gordon revealed, “We wouldn’t have had Oscar had we not lost Rocky. There was no substitute – far from it – but it brought us a bond that you’d never experience in a normal situation.”

“That’s the power of Tana,” he added. “Just watching the way that she dealt with it – and opened up with other friends and women in close proximity that could give advice – she was incredible straight after that. Their kids get a lot of strength from their mum.”

We extend our heartfelt sympathies to Gordon and Tana for the ordeal they endured.
