Oprah Winfrey Hospitalized: The Tragic Reason Behind Her Absence

On CBS Mornings, King explained that Winfrey’s absence was due to a severe stomach virus.

“Yesterday she said, ‘I’m going to rally, I’m going to rally.’ She had some kind of stomach thing where — stomach flu where stuff was coming out of both ends. I won’t get too graphic,”

King shared.

King emphasized the seriousness of Winfrey’s condition, noting, “She ended up in the hospital. Dehydration, she had an IV, so it was a very serious thing.” Despite the setback, King reassured viewers, “She will be OK. She will be OK.”

King, aware of Winfrey’s concern for her fans, added, “I hope she’s not mad at me for sharing that detail, but I wanted to make it clear that it mattered to her, and it bothered her that she couldn’t be here for you today.”

Although the exact date of Winfrey’s hospitalization remains unspecified, a post on her Instagram account announced the book club’s latest pick, Familiaris by David Wroblewski. In the accompanying photo, Winfrey appeared upbeat, holding the book with a styled hair and makeup look.

Winfrey and Stedman Graham, her partner since 1986, have navigated their relationship publicly, having been engaged in 1992 before calling off their wedding plans a year later.
