Sally Field, 78, Embraces Aging Naturally – Finds Joy in Grandparenthood and Ocean-View Living, Despite Facing Criticism.

Keeping up with the Hollywood glitz often means resorting to procedures like plastic surgery to maintain a youthful appearance. Many celebrities choose cosmetic enhancements to stay young and capitalize on the opportunities it brings.

However, actress Sally Field stands apart from this trend.

Field boasts an impressive career, starring in iconic films such as *Forrest Gump*, *Norma Rae*, *Mrs. Doubtfire*, and *Sweetheart*. Her accolades include two BAFTA Film Awards, two Academy Awards, three Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, two SAG Awards, and most recently, the Life Achievement Award.

At 76, Field looks stunning and embraces her natural appearance. She confidently displayed her gray hair and wore a beautiful black dress during her SAG Achievement Award speech.

“I often felt out of the spotlight, cautious, and reserved. But on stage, I’d surprise myself with what I’d say or do,” she remarked. “It’s great, but I wasn’t seeking attention or praise.”

“Acting has always been about capturing those moments when I feel completely, and sometimes dangerously, alive,” she continued. “It has never been easy to find my way there. These moments gave me the confidence to be vulnerable and revealed aspects of myself I wouldn’t have known otherwise. I’ve dedicated my entire life to my work. In nearly 60 years of acting, I’ve never been happier to call myself an actor.”

In a 2016 interview, Field discussed her portrayal of the quirky Doris Miller and her views on aging.

“It’s okay, I’m an old woman; seventy is old. My years have given me strength, and I’ve earned the right to own them. Even though I don’t like my neck and other things, it’s alright,” she told NPR.

Despite Hollywood’s struggle with ageism, Field chooses to embrace her natural aging process. “When I see myself on TV, I think, ‘Oh, I wish that weren’t happening to my neck. Your face is changing, and your eyes are protruding.’ But then I see women I once thought were beautiful—women who have had plastic surgery—and I think, ‘Oh no, don’t do that!’ It seems disrespectful to who they are now.”

Field has experienced two marriages and two divorces. She married Steven Craig in 1968, and they had two sons before divorcing in 1975. She then dated Burt Reynolds before marrying film producer Alan Greisman, with whom she has a son.

Ultimately, Field decided to fully commit to her work, but becoming a grandmother was a turning point in her life. She cherishes time spent with her grandchildren at her beautiful beach house, embracing her new role.

We adore Sally Field.
