Strategist Who Predicted Trump’s Collapse Says It’s Already Happening

Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville, who forecasted in February that Donald Trump’s administration would collapse, now claims the unraveling has already begun—sooner than he initially expected.

Speaking on The Dan Abrams Show, Carville declared, “It’s collapsing right now. We’re in the midst of a collapse.”

A Call for Democrats to “Play Possum”

Carville, best known for managing Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign, advised Democrats not to act aggressively but instead to stay quiet while the situation unfolds.

“What I have said very publicly is that Democrats need to play possum. This whole thing is collapsing,” he said.

What’s Behind the Collapse?

According to Carville, the downfall is driven by a combination of legally questionable executive orders, a string of government firings, and sharply declining approval ratings.

He pointed out that Trump’s moves have created instability within the administration and public distrust outside it.

Security Scandal Fuels Further Doubts

Carville’s remarks came just a month after a national security controversy made headlines. A leaked discussion about a military operation in Yemen mistakenly included The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, raising major concerns about the use of unsecured communication channels.

The incident prompted the Senate Armed Services Committee to call for an independent investigation into national security protocols.

“April Fool’s Day Should Be a National Holiday”

Carville didn’t hold back when speaking on the implications of recent events.

“It’s before April Fool’s Day—which the Trump administration should make a national holiday, because it so accurately represents who they are,” he said.

He added, “We look at what’s happening in the markets, we look at what’s happening on Signal-gate, we look at what’s happening all the way around us […] I think the thing has collapsed.”

Meeting in the Middle: “It’s Collapsing”

Trying to strike a middle ground, Carville offered, “Let’s take the middle ground here and say ‘it’s collapsing.’ I’ll meet you halfway—but that’s about all I can do.”

No Need for Aggression, Says Carville

In a separate interview with Fox News, Carville reiterated that Democrats should remain calm, as the collapse is already in progress.

“Poll numbers are declining. The collapse is already underway,” he said. “Let’s see what happens when they introduce the Medicaid budget or try to push $4.5 trillion in tax cuts for the wealthy. Just let the ball come to you. We don’t need to be aggressive right now.”
