A Mother Finds Comfort in Her Daughter’s Legacy After Losing Her to Cancer

Ontario’s Laura Hillier was diagnosed with leukemia at thirteen years old. Despite intense treatments, she was pronounced cancer-free, but her and her family’s joy was short-lived as the illness recurred four years later.

In a heartbreaking turn of events, this young and lovely individual lost her fight against cancer on January 20, 2016.

The tragic news was shared by her family on social media via the Facebook page dedicated to Laura’s journey and challenges during her lifetime.

“She displayed remarkable bravery and all of you would have been immensely proud of her. Her grace, her valor, her resilience, and her pure soul radiated until the very end,” her family expressed.

Many individuals loved the Nelson High School student. She impacted the lives of all those she met, and now it was her friends’ opportunity to demonstrate just how deeply she touched their hearts.

They adorned her coffin with messages, conveying their appreciation, their affection, and their grief at her passing.

Their desire was for Laura to receive a farewell overflowing with love befitting a cherished friend and student.

It wasn’t only her peers and educators, but also her family, neighbors, and even the hospital personnel who wrote tributes on her casket.

Upon laying eyes on their daughter’s coffin, Laura’s family were moved by the flood of support.

One message stated, “You were melodic. You were artistic. You were empathetic. You were my dearest friend.” Another message read: “Incredibly courageous and sturdy. You will forever be a champion.”

Purple, Laura’s beloved color, was prominently featured at the church and on people’s attire.

Regrettably, Laura bid farewell to this world, but the community’s overflowing love was deeply touching to witness.
